Description: Length: 2.6 m height to shoulder: 1.3 m, weight: 136 - 526 kg. Cubs weight at birth: 340 to 680 gms. There are five digits on each foot, broad soles. The claws are nonretractable, 7.6 cm long. The foot remains in contact with the ground as they walk; neither wrist nor ankle is raised above ground.

Images are all taken at the Wildlife World Zoo near Phoenix, Arizona in Litchfield. Sadly I did not see that my camera was stuck on the Aperature mode, so these images have been adjusted as best as possible with Photoshop to have some good memory photos for my grand-daughters.

I have two conflicting images looking at this photo.
One is of the old Creature Comforts ads, giving the deer a Yorkshire accent while he tells the camera about how his harem of wives constantly interrupt his desire to sit down with a nice cup of tea and read the Sunday papers.
The other is of some blinged up rapper on MTV Cribs lounging by his pool while his bikini clad hangers on frolic in the background - but very definitely in the background so no-one is in any doubt as to who is famous here. I imagine he's just said something like "these be my beeyatches, dog" to the interviewer.
Incidentally, I hate hip hop, so I may well have the lingo wrong, but actually there is nothing I care less about on this entire planet.

I attended some Flyway Week activities today, which also happened to be International Migratory Bird Day, at the Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center and The Chula Vista Nature Center. There were some great presentations, nice interaction and lots of birds.

No image trickery here, there were two black cats on the hood of a Chrysler Neon.
This is a shot from my first exposure tests with the EF 28-135, and in this case +2 EV compensates for the mostly white backdrop -- which is, by the way, the trunk of a Fiat car -- and lets us see more fur detail without loss of dynamic range caused by post-processing exposure adjustments.
