Pictured are two of the five bears currently being kept in captivity at Onesti Zoo, which closed to the public four years ago, because it didn’t meet standards laid down by the European Directive on Zoos. The Zoo is home to five of the last twenty-five bears kept in illegal captive conditions in Romania, (home to Europe’s largest bear population with over 6000 brown bears).
