Some cool all about animals images:
Eurasian Oystercatcher
The oystercatcher can be found year round in all British coastal areas, and further inland during the summer months. There are about 40,000 breeding UK pairs with approximately 350,000 birds overwintering from other parts of Europe. They nest on the ground, piling up shingle and small stones to make a nest large enough for 2 - 4 eggs. Coastal birds feed on small molluscs whilst inland birds feed happily on worms. Despite their name they do not have a strong enough beak to open oysters!
There are more pictures to follow - unfortunately I cannot tell the male and female apart, so I will assume the bird on the nest is the female and the one doing nothing at the moment is the male!
Oyster catchers are listed as an Amber endangered species by the RSPB in the UK
