In Central America, Tapirs only exist on the Osa Peninsula in Corcovado National Park. These prehistoric looking creatures are highly valued for their tasty meat. Many conservation projects to stop poaching have allowed local populations to return to high numbers, however from a global perspective, these animals are highly endangered.
