Wholly, Holey, Holy Fossil Coral

A very large chunk of fossil coral, seen at the Tucson Rock and Gem Show in February, 2009. This specimen was about 16" in length and must have weighed about 12 pounds. If you look at the large view you will see the detail left from the ancient animal colony still intact in stone after thousands of years.

It charms me that Casbeer's clearly supported Kinky. (Hence the "Kinky Friedman Burger" -- half a pound of beef, American cheese, grilled onions, on Jewish rye. Partial proceeds go toward a local animal shelter.)
