A... sort of... thing...
photo of animals
According to some sources this is a wolf. It looks uncomfortable.

One of the animals on the wall of Cardiff Castle's grounds. The Marquis of Bute was very fond of animals and the castle is decorated inside and out with hundreds of animal carvings and paintings.

This wall has a number of stone animals carved as if climbing over the wall into Cardiff town centre. They're slightly spooky at night, and I could see them lurking at night from my hotel window. They are rather neat though.

(Photo was taken rather too late in the day in dark weather with no flash)

Nice Free Animals photos

Some cool free animals images:

Food fight
free animals
Image by Konabish ~ Greg Bishop
All the sea lions in these photos are wild and totally free. Some may (understandably) take exception to creatures habituated to fishermens' scraps; but only the biggest and most aggressive seals usually grab the biggest and best 'left-overs'. These very active, hundreds-of-pounds pinnipeds require much more energy than scraps provide, and they rely chiefly on live fish and other ocean prey that they hunt and capture in the Pacific Ocean.

Though they're social animals that are seen all around populated shorelines, they will only breed and raise their young in areas in which they'll be mostly undisturbed by humans, et al; here in southern California it is the islands 30 miles and more offshore that provide near-perfect solitude. I've seen huge gatherings at our Islands, like Santa Barbara Island, one of our wild, beautiful Channel Islands.

They are best given plenty of leeway, as their bite is every bit as damaging (even worse) than that of a large dog. While I've scuba dived around them they have usually been inquisitive, even playful. But they can also become aggressive without much (if any) warning. They rightfully enjoy protective laws here, but some fishermen (and others) will still kill them if they threaten their catch.... or just out of cruelty.

Urso-de-óculos

A few nice animal behavior images I found:

Urso-de-óculos
animal behavior

----------------------------------------------
The spectacled bear, Andean bear or bear-of-monoculars (Tremarctos ornatus) is the only bear characteristic of South America and is considered a vulnerable species, the most vulnerable of all ursídeos except its closest cousin, the giant panda's Republic of China. The coat of the spectacled bear is black and features a range of cream on the face, neck and chest. Most diet-spectacled bear is vegetarian, consisting primarily of fruits of the season and bromeliads, which abound in the trees of Andean forests, but also cacti, bamboo shoots, corn, roots, insects, small mammals and even carcasses of dead animals (carrion). Males can weigh about 120 kg while females, much smaller, weigh up to 60 kg.

Gestation lasts 6-7 months, babies born at most 3. Three months after start walking at 6 and accompanying her mother on their travels. The Spectacled Bear provides parental care until the first year of the offspring. These animals are very agile and excellent climbers of trees. Like all ursídeos the spectacled bear has an extremely pointed nose, with no packaging sufficiently able to hide the existence of food in their presence, even at long range in their natural habitat. The only way to avoid being detected by the olfactory system determined this animal is taking advantage of the wind direction.

The spectacled bear is a solitary animal, with crepuscular and nocturnal habits, who lives in the trees and do not hibernate. This species has an extremely docile behavior towards humans, except for females who consider their young threatened. Under these conditions have registered some serious accidents.

We know very little about the life and habits of the Andean bear at the present time (2006), especially when taken into account the large number of projects dedicated to the scientific study of other species ursinas.

Wild muscadine grape (Vitis rotundifolia) perfectly ripe in the morning sun. These small wild grapes taste amazing! Many wild birds and animals eat them so I only tried a couple. Conflict in the north of Mali, the entrenchment of armed groups and the spread of instability has led to increased humanitarian suffering across the region.

The human impact is evident: 30,000 people are reported to have been displaced by recent combat, adding to the 345,000 Malians who have been displaced already over the last year. Across the region, vulnerable communities struggling to host them.

In Burkina Faso, we aim to reach over 290,000 people, including some 77,000 refugees, with water and public health work, food, cash for work activities, animal health and food programs for pastoralist communities, and assistance to refugees from Mali.

This wolf is part of a collection that anyone can visit at the Wolf Creek Habitat near Brookville, Indiana. I went there one morning with a local photography club of which I am a member. OVCC - Ohio Valley Camera Club.
I was struck by the intense color of the eyes of this particular wolf.
What's fun about this place, besides seeing all the beautiful wolves, is that you are allowed into the pens with the animals, as long as you have one of the owners with you to guide you as to what you can/can't do with the animals.

Yesterday, my 2yo granddaughter had the job of entertaining me, so we went to the aquarium together. We saw the divers feed the fish and met one afterward, and that's all she could talk about for the rest of the day. We'll definitely make that a regular visit. They allow photography, but none directly at the animals (fair enough). I've always liked this glass wall.
